FAQ (FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS)
WHAT IS A HACKATHON?
A hackathon is a marathon software and hardware product creation event, or more simply put, it’s a competition that focuses on creative problem solving.
Programmers, designers, and others come together to form teams to build, create and deliver MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) in a short amount of time.
A hackathon generally lasts a few hours to 48 hours, this one is roughly 36 hours.
As extra incentives to participate, there are normally cash prizes and API (Application Program Interface) specific prizes for winning teams
All meals during the event are included; all participants need are a laptop to participate.
Hackathons are frequently used by companies to foster innovation and risk-taking.
Events culminate in demonstrations (demos) where judges crown the winners.
Many hackathon projects have created new features and/or become real companies after the event.
WHO CAN ATTEND?

What if i don’t know anything about the maritime industry?
Have no fear — we don’t expect you to! We’ll be sending an information packet with digestible information on the maritime industry prior to the hackathon. Mentors with industry experience will be on site to assist and and act as a sounding board.
